Delhi Pedals Strong at Fit India Sunday

Delhi’s iconic India Gate area turned into a sea of cyclists and fitness enthusiasts as the 66th Fit India Sundays on Cycle kicked off with a ceremonial flag-off, conch shells, and an army band. The event wasn’t just about pedaling—it was a full-fledged celebration of India’s commitment to health and sustainability.

  • Occasions Celebrated: World Forest Day and World Water Day
  • Special Focus: #CWG2030InBharat – India’s upcoming Commonwealth Games hosting

Who Made It Happen

The event was jointly organized by the Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change and the Ministry of Jal Shakti, with support from the Petroleum Sports Promotion Board (PSPB) and Fit India Movement.

  • Dr. P Viswakannan, Chief Conservator of Forests, was honored for linking conservation with lifestyle.
  • Bibhuti Pradhan (IOCL) and Nishant Kumar (ONGC) were recognized for expanding the movement nationally.
  • PSPB officials like Sabeena Chowdhary, Lalit Kumar Watts, and Sandeep Sarkaria were applauded for promoting sports and fitness.

The event featured the 1st PSPB Fit India Cyclothon, with winners across age and gender categories:

Following the races, a community ride turned the stadium into a moving celebration of health and nature.

Launched in December 2024 under Union Minister Dr. Mansukh Mandaviya, Fit India Sundays on Cycle now reaches thousands of locations weekly. It’s part of PM Modi’s vision to make fitness a daily habit and tackle issues like obesity and pollution.
